Memory loss is terrifying. Memory loss is the final common result of a number of complex interacting physiologic processes. As such studies such as this one need to be taken with a grain of salt since there is no one cause for memory loss. This study is also correlational – meaning that it cannot draw a conclusion, it only points out a relationship.

 

Processed foods can be unhealthy – luncheon meats, sausages, fast food, junk food – or it can be healthy – cheese substitutes, meat substitutes.

 

An increase in 10% of ultraprocessed foods in a diet is associated with a 28% increase in dementia. Now that’s eye opening.

 

If you have a family history of Alzheimer’s Disease, take note. Reducing ultraprocessed foods while increasing minimally processed foods can reduce your dementia risk. Minimally processed foods are those that were/are alive, grown nearby, and look and taste like they would have when they were picked or culled.
