Recent breakthrough research has identified a gut bacteria that produces excessive amounts of histamine which correlates to gut pain. The researchers took gut bacteria from people suffering from IBS and implanted it in rats.

They saw a type of bacteria produce large quantities of histamine in the presence of fermentable foods. Fermentable foods include, among others, breads and refined grains, sweets foods and sugary drinks, agave, junk food and fast food, yogurt, cheese, and alcohols.

Reducing the amount of fermentable foods drastically improved symptoms. You might also consider taking a probiotic or a supplement that contains enzymes that break down histamine.

This is important information for those whith gut dysfunction including irritable bowel syndrome and mast cell activation syndrome.
